The Abbey Players strive for Quality theatre by producing 3-4 well-rehearsed mainstage productions a year, with a children's production during the summer. Hosted productions from outside theatre companies are often added in between. Abbey Players mainstage productions typically run 4 or more weekends, giving the surrounding community an ample number of shows to attend. Online ticketing was successfully implemented in the fall of 2006. Tickets to all shows can be purchased HERE or by calling our box office at 337 893 2442.

Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective by Steph DeFerie
Granny can't tell her favorite fairy tales because someone really cruel and evil is stealing all the props! Bread crumbs, magic beans, a basket of goodies, a glass slipper - all missing! The future of fairy tales is stake and it's up to the title character to set things right. With detective reasoning, his connections to the fairy tale underworld, plus some dumb luck, Nick Tickle sets out to locate the Mysterious Figure who's been pilfering all the props! He may require some help from the audience, (in some clever audience participation), but Nick Tickle is out to solve his toughest case ever! There's plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs for junior detectives and their grown-ups.

Abbey Players is proud to hostDisco Productions The Complete History of America (Abridged)starring Blaine Peltier, Heath Swaine, and Steven R. Landry The play, written by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor, interprets America's past as "a breathlessly paced sequence of silly vaudeville sketches, word-association games, puns and crude parodies of movie and television genres. Nothing is sacred, and many of the facts have been skewed to suggest the paranoid ravings of a particularly loony tabloid" all in under two hours!

Crimes of the Heart
by Beth Henley May 18, 2007 - June 9th The scene is Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Lenny, the oldest sister, is unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg, the middle sister, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst, is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast; while Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. Their troubles, grave and yet, somehow, hilarious, are highlighted by their priggish cousin, Chick, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while helpless not to fall in love with her. In the end the play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future—but the telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended. |
